Appliance installation overview

So your new home is looking pretty good, construction is moving along and you can see it really starting to take shape.

It’s pretty exciting but you feel like it would really like it was all coming together if the everyday basics like your cook top, oven, dishwasher and hot water system were installed – so when do these get installed I hear you ask?

There’s a very logical reason why these items get installed after settlement – because it means no one can take off with a five finger discount on your fab new appliances!

 Appliances that can be installed prior to settlement include: 

  • Rangehood, as they are mostly canopy and need to be measured

  • Fireplace

  • Heating and cooling

  • Garage door and remote

 Appliances that are installed after settlement include:

  • Oven

  • Cook top – upright or in bench

  • Dishwasher

  • Hot water service

  • Ducted vacuum unit

Settlement is considered Stage 6 of your procedure of purchase, and this is the really exciting part as you get to move in just seven days later!
