Bye bye bonus first home owner bonus

The Victorian Government has announced it won’t extend the First Home Owner Grant Bonus of $13,000, which will expire on 30 June – make sure you don’t miss out.

We know how hard it is to save $13,000, which is why if you’re in the position to buy your first home, you need to make your move to pay a deposit now.

Why? Well the First Home Owner Grant Bonus expires on 30 June this year, which means you need to sign a standard HIA building contract before this date and these take an average of 4 – 6 weeks to draft, finalise and sign.

The First Home Owner Grant of $7,000 was introduced by the Australian Federal Government in 2000 to offset GST and while this will remain, the $13,000 state bonus is a big incentive to buy sooner rather than later.

Combine the current $20,000 available in First Home Owner Grant and Bonus with the recent interest rate cuts and now really is a great time to move forward with your first home purchase!
