Finding your dream bedroom

For most people the bedroom is a sacred haven where they can unwind and relax after a long day. Whether your taste is classic, contemporary, designer or resort, the versatile designs of Porter Davis suit every type of style. In this article we take a look at some of the best bedrooms and give some helpful hints to achieve the same look.

Contemporary

If you dream of light and airy spaces with a minimalist design approach, then this is the style for you. This Scandinavian bedroom highlights the significance of adding colour and soft timbers to an otherwise blank canvas.  As the bedroom is a private space it’s the perfect place to inject some personality with pops of colour and pattern. Geometric prints are often featured in Scandinavian designs as they are inspired by the mountainous Scandinavian landscape. If your bedroom is on the smaller side then a minimalistic design is ideal as the light colour palette brightens up any cosy space.

Classic

If you’ve ever dreamt of waking up in an Italian lakeside villa then look no further. This stunning bedroom takes inspiration from the classic architecture and interior design of Lake Como, Italy. Exuding sophistication and elegance the colours are bold yet timeless. The use of sheer curtains which have been hung in an S fold add a gentle touch of soft glamour.  A perfect way to achieve this luxurious look is to add wall panelling, which has its origins in classic Italian architecture. By adding in a few oversized lamps the atmosphere is opulent and gives the impression a VIP guest list is required to enter.

Designer

Do you want your bedroom to feel like a luxurious five star hotel? If you answered yes then the Fifth Avenue style is for you. Named after one of the most expensive streets in New York City, let alone the world, this style is all about luxury. Dark tones work together to create an oasis of moody opulence. The use of sophisticated pin striped wall paper adds a masculine element while soft sheers work to balance the space. Feature oversized black and white photography to really have this style live up to its glamorous namesake. Keep the decor minimal but add lots of textured cushions and a statement throw to the bed.  By following these simple hints this will be a hotel you will never want to or have to check out of.

Resort

If white sandy beaches and clear blue oceans call your name then this is the design for you. Taking inspiration from the Maldives, one of the most tranquil and peaceful islands in the world this style is an oasis of calm. A combination of light tones and raw textures create the ideal beach getaway. Keep the canvas neutral and add a feature with a wallpaper reminiscent of the soft blue hues of the ocean. Use white, fresh bed linen and add a statement headboard, especially of rattan or timber.  Add a pop of greenery with indoor plants and this will truly be a holiday you will never want to end.
